Records of The Cragin are hard to come by and incomplete. That's because
no one ever thought the tournament would last 25 years, so no one kept
track of all the winners, or their scores. We just thought the trophies
were to put on our shelves to look impressive and collect dust. We
didn't know this was going to become a big time important big deal or something.
Heck, we were just amateurs, and pretty rank ones at that. With the
combined faulty recollection of participants, we have been able to put
together the following list of trophy and award winners since the first
Cragin Open. The list is far from being complete, so before we all
move from the “Can't Remember Shit” phase of life to the “Can't Remember
If I Got Up This Morning” phase, past winners better come forward and fess
up. If your name isn't here, it's your own damn fault for not letting
the tournament officials know in enough time to go to print with it.
With the exception of the traveling trophy and a couple of years when
plates were awarded, most of the trophies that have been won through the
history of The Cragin are of the traditional variety. They have the
figure of a golfer on top, although over the years many winners of trophies
have been wondering how to replace or fix the little plastic golf
club that the guy is holding.
Although it is probably safe to say that many trophies, if not the majority,
have gone to Jim Zielinski and Ken Mrock, these are the awards we have
been able to figure out.
